This property has recently been sieged over by numerous armed criminals influenced by very powerful people. The process is unfortunately really common in Costa Rica. It is known as squatting. If that were not enough we also feel obligated to inform American and Costa Rican Tourists that the municipality of Osa in Cortez and the Dominical police and the OIJ (the FBI of Costa Rica) will not assist and actually are aiding in the crime. The police are so corrupt that they have actually filed an arrest warrant on the owner of the property for entering his own home, when he tried to rid the armed squatters.
The owner has tried all legal processes to rid the armed squatters, but all has been unsuccessful. He has been extorted for thousands and thousands of dollars in bribes which really only fuel Costa Rica's corruption and make the situation worse. Since the owner has not been compliant in giving endless amounts of money to this Mafia he had been robbed at gunpoint and pistol whipped, giving him over twenty stitches in his forehead, as well as battering his wife. The twist in this robbery is that the six armed gunmen were wearing and used masks, uniform boots, grayish-blue pants, handcuffs, and 38caliber long nose hand guns, equipment and weapons that typically only the police have access to.
I strongly urge all people planning to visit Costa Rica to stay away from a country that accepts and endorses crime and corruption.
After owning this home for nine years armed squatters with drugs have now successfully taken control of this property and in association with the municipality of Osa in Cortez are now trying to gain control with falsified documents and information.
Unfortunately we are not the only ones affected, so beware!

The Castillo Del Mar is located approximately five miles south of the world renown surfing town of Dominical, Costa Rica, about an hour south from Quepos (Manuel Antonio Park).

This one of a kind Costa Rica Vacation Rental is nestled in a very safe and private community(Playa San Martin). From the 3rd level perch you will notice a beautiful cove. There is a hammock and Jacuzzi on the balcony, where you can listen to the soothing sounds of the ocean and enjoy the spectacular views. A family of Howler Monkeys can oftenly be seen near the pool. Also seen from the house are; sloths, sometimes whales, (toucans) exotic birds, butterflies and all other varieties of Costa Rica's unique bio-diversity.

Just south of us is the town of Uvita which has excellent swimming and surf conditions. There are also many beaches between Dominical and Uvita. The closest one only a short walk from the house. The Dominical area actually is, Costa Rica at it's best! There are miles of sandy shoreline and primary rainforest to explore, and lots of activities to plan in the area.

Activities & Tours:

Unlike the tourist trap of Manuel Antonio, Dominical and the surrounding area actually offer many more activities and tours that are readily accesible; (class 4) white water rafting on the Rio San Isidro, sport fishing, horseback riding, sea and or river kayaking, nature/canopy tours, river and mangrove fishing, Scuba diving at Ballena Under Water National Park and Cano Island, snorkelling, ultralight tours, & surfing just to name a few!

*Jungle, Canopy, and Nature (ECO) tours are guided at the Hacienda Baru Wildlife Refuge, only 10 miles away from the house.

The tour takes you by horseback for a few miles to a lush waterfall which cascades into a large swimming area. You can swim underneath these falls, so don't forget the swim trunks. Amenities A' Plenty:

This very unique 2000 sq ft. Air Conditioned home has three seperate bedrooms, the master with a king size bed and bath and the second has a double bed with it's own bath. The third bedroom is on the garden level and has a double and a single bed. The pool is about 12x24 ft', with a swim-up bar. Also included; Jacuzzi, private pool, 3 air conditioning units, ceiling fans, satellite television, microwave, gas stove/oven, washer/dryer, coffee maker, toaster, blender, and best of all, crystal clear well water!

The Castillo Del Mar can accommodate a maximum of 8 persons.

All maid services, linens, towels, and toiletry are included.

Food & Nightlife:

Dominical hosts many small stores along with a couple of internet cafes, farmers markets, a pharmacy/clinic, along with several bars(sodas), restaurants, and nightlife.

Also available in Dominical are many Gift Shops, Surf Board rentals and Tour Agencies.

There are many fine dining restaurants in and around the Dominical/Uvita area.

There are some small grocery stores in Dominical and Uvita. There are a few large grocery stores located in the much larger town of San Isidro, which is a highly recommended scenic mountain drive. San Isidro also hosts many other stores and outlets for just about any gift or necessity.
